As a member of CA Sri Lanka, you can chose one of the below mentioned two pathways to obtain your CPA Canada membership.

1) Challenge Path

If you have a university degree and a minimum of three years of relevant experience or no university degree and a minimum of eight years of relevant experience, you are only required to complete the following components of the CPA Canada:

  • Challenge the examinations of Core 1 and Core 2 Modules* (Final Exams only)
  • Challenge the examinations of two Elective Modules* (Final Exams only)
  • Capstone 1 Module
  • Capstone 2 Module
  • Common Final Examination

* -  Chellenging the examination means that the students have the opportunity to directly sit for the course exam without following the full course

2) Full CPA PEP Path

If you do not have a university degree and have less than eight years of relevant experience, you will be required to complete the following components of CPA Canada:

  • Core 1 and Core 2 Modules and examinations (Full courses + Final Exams)

Practical Experience Requirement

The assessment of your experience is separate from your application for registration as a student.

After your student registration is approved, and once you enrol in a CPA PEP module, you can apply for an exemption from the prescribed practical experience requirement (30 months) by submitting a Practical Experience Form for Internationally Trained Accountants for each of your previous employers and current employer. Both international and Canadian experience can be considered.
