Sub Committees

Committees are a vital part of Chapter strategy and play a pivotal role in delivering Chapter services to our members and community. Chapter members play an active role in committees and the Chapter encourages the members to add value by taking part in the committees. Current committees of the Chapter are as follows;


1) Member Relations and Event Management Committee

2) Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Committee

3) Member Development and Career Guidance Committee

4) CSR and Sustainability Committee

5) MoU/MRA Committee

Member Relations and Event Management Committee

Objective and Scope

Member Relations and Event Management committee engages on organizing networking events for Chapter members and carrying out funding activities in a structured basis to ensure long term financial sustainability of the Chapter.


Scope of Work for 2024/2025

  • Organize events, providing opportunities for networking, recognition, and community building among our members 
  • Compile and publish the annual report
  • Compile and publish HUB Magazine
  • Strategically pursue grants and sponsorships to support the financial sustainability and success of our events    

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Committee

Objective and Scope

CPD committee’s primary objective is to assist members to update their technical knowledge and skills to enhance their professional competencies. CPD sessions also promote networking and collaboration between members and our partners.


Scope of Work for 2024/2025

  • Collaborate with industry experts and relevant organizations to deliver engaging and impactful CPD sessions that contribute to the professional growth and success of our members 

Member Development and Career Guidance Committee

Objective and Scope

Member Development committee assists members to acclimatise to the corporate, business, and social environment in Canada. Tools such as social media platforms, workshops and one-one interactions are used in delivering member support services.


Scope of Work for 2024/2025

  • Develop a newcomer's guide
  • Facilitate a session focused on navigating the Canadian job market, providing members with insights and strategies for securing employment opportunities
  • Coordinate the implementation of the H&R Block Tax course
  • Ensure responsive support for member inquiries received through the website, Facebook, and LinkedIn platforms.

CSR and Sustainability Committee

Objective and Scope

The CSR and Sustainability Committee assists the Chapter in fulfilling its responsibility for oversight of relevant sustainability and corporate social responsibility policies, strategies and programs of the Chapter.  It is also responsible for carrying out CSR activities on behalf of the Chapter within Canada.  


Scope of Work for 2024/2025

  • Conduct regular CSR activities mainly focused on Sri Lanka
  • Develop a framework to contribute for CA Sri Lanka Scholarships
  • Organize webinars dedicated to exploring emerging trends and best practices in ESG principles and sustainability

MoU/MRA Committee

Objective and Scope

The MOU/MRA Committee is a dedicated committee within our Chapter focused on fostering strategic partnerships and collaborations to elevate opportunities for our members. Committed to enhancing professional development and fostering industry connections, our committee diligently works towards the following key objectives:


Scope of Work for 2024/2025

  • Develop a business case for CPA Canada
  • Pursue partnerships and collaborations with other professional institutes in North America to further enhance the opportunities available to our members
  • Collaborate with the Sri Lankan Consulate General's office in Toronto to establish a forum for professionals
